Karim is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an alumnus of King’s College London, where he attained his MSc in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution. Leveraging extensive legal expertise and deep industry knowledge, he adeptly acts in convoluted Construction, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Energy & Natural Resources, Real Estate, Mergers & Acquisitions, Insurance, Shareholders’ Agreements and Hospitality & Leisure disputes.
Karim specialises in heavy construction disputes arising from building and engineering activities both nationally and internationally, acting for employers, contractors and consultants relating to breach of contract, delay & disruption, time extensions, prolongation, payment provisions, acceleration, loss of productivity, final accounts and professional negligence actions against inter alia architects, engineers and surveyors. Karim also acquires appropriate experience in the different standard form contracts, tendering process and collaborative procurement methods.
Renowned for delivering tailored-fit strategic solutions for the firm’s clients, Karim’s expertise extends to serving as counsel and co-counsel in complex arbitration proceedings under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), DIFC-LCIA, Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC), Bahrain Chamber of Dispute Resolution (BCDR) and Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration. He also often sits as a Tribunal Secretary in complex cases under the auspices of leading arbitration institutions.
Karim joined Yehia Associates in 2016 and quickly established himself as a trusted and competent dispute lawyer in high-stakes arbitration disputes. His consistent success in navigating complex cases and fostering strong client relationships culminated in his promotion to partner within the arbitration group in 2024.
In 2018, Karim appeared in front of the International Court of Justice as a Delegate of the African Union Delegation in the request for Advisory Opinion on the “Illegal Separation of the Chagos Archipelago from Mauritius in 1965.”
Karim is a bilingual dispute lawyer with extensive experience in civil law jurisdictions and an in-depth understanding of common law and practices in the MENA and the African Region. He practices in both English and Arabic.
